Xeround FREE is great for starting out with your database in the cloud. This free edition is ideal for the development stages, for staging purposes, as well as for small-scale web applications.
With Xeround, you can at last CHILL with your database in the cloud!
Rather than having to manually install, configure, monitor and manage your MySQL database – You can enjoy a zero-management (and zero-headache :)) MySQL in the cloud with just 1-click.
Like all Xeround editions, Xeround FREE also includes two built-in replicas for high availability, a round-robin DNS, and Xeround API access. Xeround is a drop-in replacement for your existing MySQL database, so you do not need to change your code, and you can simply work with your cloud database just as you would with any MySQL database. Simply connect your app to your Xeround DB – and it works!
Xeround FREE is using a shared environment and is limited up to 10MB and 5 connections. As your database grows – you can easily upgrade your FREE instance to Xeround BASIC or Xeround PRO editions – depending on your needs.

How do I create my Xeround FREE database instance?
Simply register to Xeround, then log in to your account and choose "Create New" to create your new database instance, then select "Xeround FREE" from the list of available editions.
How many Xeround FREE database instances can I create?
Every Xeround user is entitled to one concurrent Xeround FREE database instance per account. If you require additional databases, choose "Create New" from your Database Manager Online Console and select either "Xeround BASIC" or "Xeround PRO" from the list of available plans. The first 14 days of using Xeround Basic or Xeround PRO are free!

Xeround BASIC is designed for medium-size applications looking for a highly available database solution in the cloud that’s simple to use, cost-effective and reliable.
Xeround BASIC is limited up to 0.5GB, and is billed based on your database and your chosen datacenter:
- Monthly charges include both the data size and throughput for your DB instance
- Databases charges are prorated per day based on their applicable monthly fee (So you would pay only the relative amount for the days your database has been active during the month.)

Database Exports: Xeround BASIC allows you to easily export your database from within the management console. The saved exports can be used as backup or for Restore purposes. Exports are charged at $0.125 per GB/month.
Like all Xeround editions, Xeround BASIC also delivers a simple, worry-free database solution for MySQL in the cloud. It includes two built-in replicas for high availability, a round-robin DNS, Xeround API support, DB-exports and more.

During the trial period you can switch between editions by choosing "Change Plan" from the Database Manager Online Console (or dropping your existing trial instance and creating a new one – this time selecting a different edition). With Xeround PRO you can be confident that your DB will always run optimally, with no need for any extensive management, monitoring, or configuration overhead on your part.
Xeround PRO – Industry-First Auto-Scaling:
Xeround’s industry-first auto-scaling capabilities streamline and simplify MySQL scalability in the cloud. With Xeround, your database automatically scales out when it requires more throughput or capacity, and scales back in when it requires fewer resources.
This linear, practically unlimited, scalability is extremely granular and can accommodate any peak or demand from the application.
With Xeround PRO you automatically scale both throughput and size; scale both out/in and up/down; scale both read and write operations – and all scaling is done on-the-fly and does not involve any code changes to your app or any architectural considerations to support scaling.
Xeround PRO – Pay-per-Use Pricing:
Xeround PRO is billed based on two usage metrics:
- Database Size – Data footprint in GB/hour
- Data Transfer – Data that is transferred between the application and the database
Xeround PRO has a minimum charge for 0.5GB of data/hour in addition to any data transfer or backup costs. If your total DB size for the month (or pro-rated for the days of the month your DB has been live) was less than 0.5GB/hour on average, you will be charged the minimum of 0.5GB/hour for the month ($75.6/month on our Amazon EC2 datacenters).

In addition, during the trial period (as well as when you become a paying customer), you can see an up-to-date report of your current Data Size and Data Transfer usage along with the associated costs. That way, during your trial you can get an accurate status report of what your costs would have been if you were a paying customer of Xeround. "Hot" Backups: Xeround PRO plan includes one daily system backup. In addition, you can initiate additional on-demand backups – these are charged at $0.125 per GB for the month. Backups are done online, with no service downtime or interruptions.
Xeround PRO offers unlimited throughput, up to 50GB of data and 4,800 connections. If you require a larger DB size or additional connections, contact us and we’ll hook you up!

How can I estimate my Xeround PRO costs for my particular database?

Can I mix editions for the databases under my account?
Yes. For some databases you’d require a Xeround BASIC plan, and for others you’ll need Xeround PRO functionality. When creating each database instance you’ll be asked ot select the appropriate plan for this database.
Can I share one database instance between several applications?
Yes. By using multiple schemas and GRANT access you can share one DB instance (for example, Xeround PRO) between multiple applications. This will allow you to enjoy a more robust feature set (including Auto-scaling) to be shared across apps – where some applications are more “demanding” in terms of their DB usage, while others less so.
As a Xeround customer, can I migrate my database Instance between editions?
Yes. Once you become a Xeround customer you can upgrade your Xeround FREE or Xeround BASIC database instance to a higher version by choosing “Change Plan” from the Database Manager Online Console. Alternatively, you can always drop your existing database instance and create a new one under a different plan.
What are the differences between Xeround’s plan on EC2/Rackspace and on Heroku?
You can see Xeround’s plans on Heroku here. The key difference relates to Xeround PRO edition: Due to current limitations of the Heroku platform, we are unable to offer pay-per-use billing via Heroku. Therefore, Xeround PRO Add-on on Heroku is offered as a tiered plan that includes both the data size and the data transfer of your database instance.
In addition, Heroku Add-on users can not inititate database backups via Xeround’s Database Manager Online Console.
