Announcing Xeround Cloud Database API

One of the frequent requests that our users have been asking us for is to access our service via an API.

We’ve listened and we’ve delivered!

We’ve just released the first version of the API to our service. The new API allows developers to configure their application to remotely call our service to create and manage multiple Xeround database instances in the cloud.

Xeround Cloud Database API supports both SOAP and REST, and allows you to:

1. Create a new database instances
2. Get the connection IPs for your instance, status, DB size and other info
3. Drop a database instances

API support is extremely useful, for example, if you are developing a SaaS or PaaS solution, which often requires the creation of a new database instance for every end user or account that uses the service. Another possible use for Xeround’s API is to power an IDE add-on that creates a fresh database for each project that’s created.

Effectively managing sometimes thousands of database instances is becoming a major operation problem for many application providers. Each database has its own needs in terms of size, throughput and performance – and ensuring multi-tenancy, scalability and availability, is challenging.

With a couple of API calls you can now integrate Xeround’s Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) with your platform, and easily create numerous database instances and assure they are optimally running in the cloud.

This takes the headache, guess work and management overhead out of manually dealing with multiple database instances. With scalability and availability automatically handled by the service itself – developers are free to focus on their application rather than on the IT side of things.
